楠ワイナリー　

ビーバーという刈り払い機や乗用モーアーで
草を刈っていると、蝉が寄ってくる。鳴かない
メスは体当たりしてくるし、鳴くオスは近くで大きな
音を立てる。どうも、威勢の良いオスが来たと勘違い
されているらしい。今朝も寄って来た蝉が何匹か
いた。これは帽子に留まった油蝉のメスを捕まえたところ。
ビーバーやモーアーの音の周波数が蝉の鳴き声に近い
のだろうか。スペクトラムアナライザーがあれば
自然界では結構面白いかも。

Whenever I mow weed by handheld mower or cart
mower, I find the sound attracts cicadas. Female cicadas
which do not make sound come to hit me and male ones
which do make sounds seem to try make louder sound
as I approach to them. It seems that they take me a
big and strong male cicada. This morning, some cicadas
came to me while I was on the cart mower. The picture
below shows a female cicada came to stay on my cap.
The frequency of the mowers may be close to that of
cicadas. It may be interesting if you had a spectrum analyzer
with you when you were out in the nature.

今朝巨峰の畑にてボルドーを散布。
畑にはたくさん蜘蛛がいるので
防除しているとこんな風に蜘蛛の巣が
水滴にかたどられるのをよく見ます。

I sprayed Bordeaux this morning at kyoho vineyards.
As there are many spiders in my vineyards, I can often
find such cobweb like an embroidery with spray water.

防除の日、早朝の西の空に満月が。
畑には雑草として刈られる
月見草がきれいな黄色の花を
開いている。道端には濃い紫色の
朝顔も。いつの間にか7月も終わりに
近い。今日も暑くなった。

In the morning of spraying, I found full moon
in the west sky. Evening primroses are in full
bloom with clear yellow flowers which are to
be mowed as weed. I can find dark purple flower
of morning glory. The month of July is almost gone
while I did not notice it. It got very hot again today.

袋掛けも終わったので、
今朝からボルドーの散布があちこちで
始まった。夜間散水も始まったので
よくスケジュールを調整しないと、早朝畑に
出ても防除できないなんて事もたまにある。
この時期、太陽が出てきた瞬間体感温度が
大分高くなる。雨合羽を着ているので
暑さは尋常ではない。サウナ状態。
やせること間違いなし。

Bordeaux spray began this morning after the
completion of wrapping the bunches. As the irrigation
by sprinkler also started, some may find the irrigation
going on when he(usually he) arrives at the vineyard
and cannot spray. We have to check the irrigation schedule
well.

Regarding the spraying at this time of the year, we feel
very hot once the sun rises. As we wear rain wear, the hotness
we feel is beyond imagination. It is almost as if we were in
sauna spa. You can surely lose your weight.

大雨の後は熱暑が続いて、農地はカラカラに
なってきた。土は、水分をあふれるほどに含んで
畑の中ではハンドルを取られるほどだったのに、
今は、固くしまっている。　週末ごろから
灌水も始まった。

After heavy rain for days in a row, we have had
very hot days and it has made the soil very dry.
While it was raining, the soil got so wet and
we were not able to control our vehicle in the farm.
But now the earth was so had and tight. The irrigation
Began at the end of the last week again.

今日巨峰の園地点検。
適正着果量の検査を行う。
これで合格して袋を掛けられる。
今年は、親子房を落とした農家が
多いようだ。という私は落としすぎでした。

いつもより遅れていたとび玉も今日はじめて
見ました。よそのお宅の畑ですが。

明日から本格的に袋掛けと笠かけです。

There held an inspection of kyoho vineyards in
my area around here which is to count the number
of bunches and berries of certain area of a vineyard.
Once you pass, you can start wrapping. Many growers
Seem to drop millrendage bunches. I may have dropped
too many.

I found the color change of berry which was delayed this
year in an other’s vineyard.

Any how, I can start wrapping tomorrow.

梅雨が終わっての草刈り。
雨のせいで10日もすれば
草刈前と同じほどに伸びた草々も
これからは伸び方も遅くなるだろう。
ふと見上げると夕焼けが。

Mowing after the rainy season is the duty
of this time after berry thinning. While the
weed grew to the same height in ten days
during the rainy season, the vigor should be
lowered from now on.

Looking up the sky at sunset, I found another quiet
scenery.

昨日機会があって楠ヴィニヤーズの
セミヨン/ソーヴィニオン・ブラン2009 と
シャルドネ2008を飲んだ。

いずれもかなり良くなっていて安心。
セミヨンSBはセミヨンらしさがかなり出てきて
いて、やはりSBだけのワインとは一線を画しています。
これからどんどん良くなってゆく予感。

シャルドネは、おいしさが前面に出てきました。
開くのに時間がかかっていて、ニュートラルな
印象を与える時間が長かったのに、今は初めから
香り高く複雑さが口の中で広がります。

Yesterday I had a chance to taste
Kusunoki Vineyards’ Semillon/Sauvignon Blanc
2009 and Chardonnay 2008.

I am happy to have found both wines are in
good condition and taste wonderful.

Regarding Semillon/Sauvignon Blanc 2009, it
now shows the favorable character of Semillon on the nose
and the palate. It really tastes good and better than single
variety wine of Sauvignon Blanc. I hope it will develop
better in near future.

Chardonnay 2008 now starts speaking itself. It needed
some time to release good aroma and taste before after
being poured into the glass but it now shows more tropical
fruit and honey on the nose and has more complexity
with minerals on the palate.

Both are really good wines, I believe.

連日猛暑です。
雨が多かったせいで非常に蒸します。
帰省の季節ももうすぐですね。

葡萄の摘粒も終盤に差し掛かり
多めに親子葡萄を落とした当農園では
袋をかけ始めた畑もあります。

そんななか、山葡萄が元気です。
ほとんど防除もしていないのに
今のところ病気にもならずにいます。

We have very warm days everyday after the rainy
Season was over. Due to the heavy rain, we have
high humidity, too.　The season of going back home
to the country side is just around the corner.

Berry thinning in the vineyards is getting to the end
and we have started wrapping. We have smaller crops this
year because we have dropped many millrendage bunches.

Indigenous grape looks fine. With little spraying they have
not shown any sign of disease at all.

梅雨の終わりを告げる雨なのか、
とんでもない大雨が降った。約1時間。
一瞬でも外にいたらずぶ濡れになりそうな
降り。しかも雷も。

畑にはあっと言う間に幾筋もの川が出現。

昼間見た入道雲が
連れて来たのだろうか。

Is it the rain that ends the rainy season?
We had very big shower late afternoon for
about one hour. If you were out there even
for a moment, you would surely get wet to
the skin. It came along with thunders and lightning.
Suddenly many creeks appeared
in the farm yards.

I wonder if the towering cloud during the day
brought such heavy rain together?

朝方の雨がやんだので
防除に出た。途中降ってきて中断。
しばらくして上がったので残りを
打つ。一時終日雨の予報も出たのだが、
結局夕方まで降らなかった。

寝る前、朝、出かける前、等々
携帯やインターネットで天気予報を頻繁に
チェックする。その度に予報が変わっているのだが。
なぜかな～？
あたってもあたらなくても頼りにしているのだ。

As it stopped raining in the morning,
I went out for spraying in the vineyards.
But it started raining and I had to stop
for a while. After a while, I started spraying
again as the rain stopped. The weather forecast
said it would rain whole day at one time but
actually it did not rain until very late afternoon
then.

I always check weather forecast by mobile phone,
PC, radio, etc very often. Today the forecast
kept changing each time I checked the forecast.
Whether
it is correct or not, I have no choice but
relying on the forecast in order to make my mind.

雨が続いている。
今週は朝防除をする予定が
毎朝雨で、延期に告ぐ延期。
現在巨峰の摘粒をやっているが
病気が入っている房を
見つけることも多い。
こういう年は珍しい。
早く梅雨が明けて欲しい
ものだ。

たたくような雨。

It rains everyday.
I was supposed to spray in the vineyards
this week but had to put off due to the
rain.

During the berry thinning operation of
Kyoho grape, I often sight the bunch with
disease which is not common for other years.

I wish the rainy season will be over soon.

午前５時くらいにザーッと雨が
降ったがすぐにやんで穏やかな曇り空
が広がった。昨日と同じパターン。
昨日は、午前中は天気が持ったのだ…。
そのせいか、草刈の帰り道
今朝は防除をするssをちらほら
畑の中で見かけた。雨続きなので、病気が
目に付くし、一瞬の
時間を狙って防除したくなる気持ちは
よく分かる。しかし、今日はまたすぐに
雨となってしまった。

明日は終日曇りの予報。
私も朝は防除に出よう。

It rained like a shower at around 5am today
but it stopped soon and became cloudy which was
same weather as yesterday. It did not rain then during
the morning yesterday. Therefore I found a few spraying
vehicles running in the vineyards this morning.
I was easily able to imagine that the farmers wanted
to spray against disease due to recent rainy weather.
However, it started raining again soon this morning and
it did very heavily.

The cloudy weather is forecasted for tomorrow now.
I am prepared to go out for spraying tomorrow morning.

先日の事、農薬散布中に
朝日に照らされて虹が
出現。実はよくあります。

それにしても、もう草がこんなに
伸びたか。

The other day, a rainbow appeared on the
spray due to the morning sun light reflected
on it. Such rainbows appeared often as a matter
of fact.

Any how, the weed has grown to such hegiht already!

セミヨンの誘引ロープを高くするために
上から見たところ。この時期雨が多いので
葡萄の新梢もどんどん伸びます。

I used steps to raise the training wire
of Semillon. The vines are very vigorous
due to a lot of rain during rainy season.
New shoots grow rapidly.

こんな年は初めてだ、という言葉を
よく聞く。巨峰の結実が悪いのだ。
摘粒の時期なのだが、葡萄農家の表情が
さえない。いわゆる種無果と、「花振るい」
という優雅な名前がついてはいるが、
房流れともいう、結実不良の房の発生が異常に
多いのだ。開花期の気象条件（乾燥高温と
一時的大雨）に影響を受けたようだ。
北信一帯でその傾向が出ているという。

葡萄畑はため息だらけだ。

これで、種無し巨峰を作る人が一気に増えそうだ。

I often hear that this is the first and the worst year for
Kyoho grape. The fruit set of kyoho is not good around
here. It’s time for berry thinning for final bunch forming
but the grapegrowers do not seem happy.

Millrendage and poor fruit set occur at the same time
and in big portion this year. The causes were said to be
the bad weather at the time of flowering (dry and high
temperature as well as heavy rain at a time). Most
of the northern part of Shinshu seems in similar situation.

So the grapegrowers cannot help but sigh in their
Vineyards.

Many of them will turn to make seedless kyoho next year.

大豆畑の草取りをやるからとの
電話が昨夜あった。朝5時集合。
この時季農家の朝は早いのだ。
道すがら、あちこちの畑にはすでに車が
とまっている。4時といえば明るいからね。
メシメイ作業に出ている農家だ。

Last night I received a call for mowing in the soy bean
farm at 5 am. Farmers are very early risers during
the peak season. On the way to the farm, I found several
cars parking by the orchards and vineyards. The farmers
are coming out for operations before breakfast. It is not
surprising as it gets clear at 4am already this time of
the year.

巨峰の畑で見つけた鳥の巣。

近くでしきりに鳴いていた
これが親鳥か。

そういえばワイン葡萄の垣根の
中にも巣を作ってしまう鳥が
いる。もっと安全な場所が
見当たらなくなったということか？
鳥の災難、人間にとっての環境変化
を意味するのかも。

I found a bird nest on the kyoho
overhead trellis. This may be one of
the parents bird as it cried timelessly.

Some time I find a nest or two on the
winegrape trellis which does not seem
suitable for keeping eggs and babies.
It means that there are no safer places
for them than such locations.
Poor birds or does it imply the environment
deterioration for human beings ?

昨年植えたカシスが少し実をつけた。
熟すると落ちてしまうようだが、
毎日味見をしているので、落ちてしまう
暇がない。最近はだいぶおいしくなった。

一日の農作業の終わりにつまんで食べる。
少々生き返る。

Black currant which I planted last year
is bearing fruit. When the fruit
becomes ripe, it falls down on the ground. But
as I taste some everyday, it does not have time
for free fall. The taste is getting better now.

I picked some after hard work in the vineyards
that revitalizes me a bit.

ベト対策にボルドーを打った。
ついでに、前回散布直後に雨の降った
シャルドネにも念のためボルドーを
打っておいた。ごくごく一部に
オイルスポット発見。その後、
やり残した畑にも散布し、
結局終わったのはお昼近くだった。

その後猛烈に暑くなったので、
遅い時間にはなったが午前中のまだ
暑くならないうちに終了できたのは
良かった。

夕方から雨が降り始めた。
大雨注意報が出ているのに、
ここら辺は、割に今は静かな降りだ。

I sprayed Bordeaux against downy mildew
in the Pinot Noir vineyard today. By taking this
chance, I did also in the chardonnay vineyard
where it rained just after I had finished spraying
the other day. In that chardonnay vineyard, I found
an infected leaf in a limited section. After Bordeaux
spraying, I also sprayed on the other vineyard with
other substance and it got to almost noon then.

I was lucky enough to have finished the operation
in a bit cooling morning as it became very warm
later on.

It started raining in the late afternoon and it continued
to rain. Despite of the forecasted heavy rain tonight,
it is raining rather quietly now.
