といっても、4月に降った事も
あるから別にそれほど驚くほどでは
ないのだが先週の32度からだと気温差で
30度程はあるから大分寒いのは事実だ。
夕方にはちょっとした吹雪。
普通の作業手袋では指先がかじかんで
しまう。

南オーストラリアのまぶしい太陽が恋しくなる。
そろそろビンテージも最終盤に掛かってきている
というメールを頂く。

地元の人はラインと発音していた）

I had snow in April before so it is not
particularly surprising. Though as I came back
from a country where it was 32 degrees C,
it is freezing enough. It snowed a lot with
strong wind in the late afternoon. With normal
gloves, my fingers got very cold.

I wish the shining blue sky in South Australia
on such a day. I received an e-mail sayin that
this year's vintage is at the final stage
now.

2週間ほど南オーストラリアへ
ワインの勉強に行ってました。

本当にワイン漬けの毎日。
ちょっと無い貴重な経験でした。
少しずつ紹介して行きます。

それにしても、全ては現地の
早坂さん夫妻のご好意によって
実現したものです。宿泊と車を提供して下さり
、さらにはご自宅を自由に使わせてくださった、
その好意に感謝の言葉以外のものはありません。
本当にありがとうございました。

それにしても、そいう得がたい方々と出会えた
のは何という幸運なことなのか。

今回は、それに加えて行く先々で出会った方々が親切に
してくれて本当に感謝感謝の毎日でした。

I was out to South Australia for
about two weeks to study around
wine. Everyday a lot of wines - what an
experience ! The layers of precious moments
which I will introduce a bit here.

This time, I cannot find any other proper
words than 'Thank you very much' to express my
gratitude to Mr. and Mrs. Hayasaka living in
Adelaide who were so kind to treat me as a
family member letting me stay with them, use
their car and make feel at home. I really
appreciate their kindness.

I find myself very fortunate to have such nice
people. What is more, everybody at any place
were so kind to me and us, wine tour members.
I feel something very warm in my heart.
What a nice trip and experience.
I really thank you all for every thing again and
again.

午前中から雨脚が強まり
午後は気温もかなり下がった。
そして暗くなる頃には雪混じりとなった。
昨日の暖かさとはまた違った天気。

そんな午後とある旅館の喫茶室の

We had drizzling rain in the
morning and the temperature went
down after lunch. Snow came down with
the rain when it got dark. It was such
a different weather from yesterday.

峰の原の友人が、今日も出ました
と言って送ってくれたリスの写真が
余りにかわいいので、お断りして
転載させて頂いた。

そのペンションに出没するリスは
チュースケ、チューコと呼ばれて
いる。何故か名前がねずみ的なのだが
その理由はいつも聞きそびれる。

A friend of mine living at Minenohara
Kogen Heights sent me a message saying
here he came again today with a picture
of a squirrel. I show it here with permission
as it is so cute.

They call the squirrels either Chu-suke (male)
or Chu-ko (female). I always forget to ask
why they call them as if they were mice.

北風の吹いて存外に寒い
一日であったが、日がさしている
間は問題なく畑仕事がすすんだ。

道に面している畑は、葡萄畑も
りんご畑も大概剪定が終わっていて
切り落とした枝を集めて焚く煙が
そこここで上がり、またその匂いが流れてくる。
春先の匂いの一部だ。

明日からは気温もかなり上がるようで
また暖かさが戻ってくる。今年は桜も
大分早い開花が予想されている。
あと3週間ほどで4月だが、もう一度くらい雪の
積もる日があるのだろうか。

It was rather a chilly day with
cold wind blowing from the north.
But while it shined, it felt warm
and I was able to carry on pruning
in the vineyard.

It seems most of the orchards and vineyards
facing roads have been finished the pruning.
And I can see or smell the smokes of burning
the cut off branches. The smell is one of the
things of early Spring.

The temperature is expected to go up
tomorrow and the warm weather seem to
come back again. Early cherry blossom
is also expected this year. We have three
more weeks to Spring but I wonder if we
are going to have snow fall again.

Here are unfamiliar photos
for the Japanese grapegwers.
This training system is called bush vine
which is considered good for grenash.
The vine maybe grenash and rather younger
vines in Barossa Valley. The black tube
is the drip irrigation tube.

The photo below shows the vineyard
with sod plant grown in inter rows during
winter.

今日も午前中から雪になり
結構積もった。剪定も午前中
で中止に。

市内新町の風情。
今市内のお店屋さんでは
雛飾りを飾っている。
たまたまお邪魔した古い
味噌屋さんでは、味噌汁と
味噌漬けをご馳走になった。
私が作った瓜も味噌漬けに
なって売られていました。

It started to snow again
this morning and we had
slight layer of snow in the
farm. I had to stop pruning
by noon because of very wet snow.

It is the main street in Shinmachi
with snow. It is the Doll Festival
period and many shops display their
dolls and serve some tea, etc.
I happened to visit one miso maker
and was served a cup of miso soup
and miso pickles of veges and tea as well.
The miso pickled vege melon which
I grew last year was also sold.

昨日来の雪のせいで
朝は冬景色だ。ただ、せいぜい
マイナス1度なので、思いのほか
暖かい。畑ではまだ枝に雪が
積もっているので、濡れた指先は
直ぐに冷たくなる。
ナガノパープルの芽傷処理に
畑に来たのだ。

日が差してくると雪はどんどん溶けて
畑に残る雪は極僅かとなる。
ただ、夕刻に除いた山の雪は
冬の色を見せていた。

The scene in the vineyard looked
like the one in winter due to the
snow since yesterday. But the
temperature is no less than 1degree C
below zero and it felt rather warm
for the winter scene. The snow remained
on the vines and branches, I felt cold
at the fingers once it got wet.
I came out here for making cuttings for
inducing bud burst in Spring.

With morning sunshine, the snow melted
away quickly and they disappeared in
the afternoon. However the the snows in
Myokaku-san mountain near sunset
showed the winter color.

昨日は一日中雨。
今日は終日湿った雪。
つい先日は20度にもなろうかという
陽気だったのであるが。

作業できるかと思って畑へは
出てみたが、湿った雪で
直ぐにぬれねずみになって
しまいそう。
ゆっくりと骨休めの週末。

It rained whole day yesterday
and it was snowing today. The snow
was wet and heavy. The weather had been
lik Spring a few days ago.

I went outto the vineyard wondering
if I was able to work there but
the wet snow would get me wet to the skin soon.
So I took a good resting weekend.

まだ絨毯の様に、とはいかないが
午前中の春のような日差しに
青い小さなオオイヌノフグリの花
がたくさん開いていた。

北信五岳も、低い部分を覆っていた
雲が晴れて、冬のくっきりとは
違うやや朧な風情を漂わせて
いた。　

午後は一転、空は曇り
冷たい風も出てきたが、
気づいてみると午後5時を
過ぎても畑にいることができる。
水を吸い上げ始めた葡萄の樹も
あるようだ。

The blue flowers of spring,
Ooinunofuguri, opened its petals
in the warm spring sun shine.
They do not look like a blue carpet
yet. The famous five mountains of
north Shinshu, Hokushin Gogaku, were
seen after the clouds at the
lower part had vanished. They did not
look so sharp like in winter but
a bit vaguely in spring warm air.

In the afternoon, however, it turned
to be cloudy with cold wind blowing.
But still it shold have been warm
enough so I just noticed it
got five o'clock while working
in the vineyard. I found one vine
after pruning at the lower part of
the trunk showing water at its cut.
It started absorbing water from the
soil.

漸く昨日巨峰の剪定が終わって
今日からまたワイン葡萄の剪定。
セミヨンがなかなか樹勢が強い。
しかし種枝も2年枝も切ると意外と
軽くて、しかも乾燥している
感じで、ワイヤに誘引するのに
直ぐに折れてしまいそうになる。
こんなので大丈夫
なのかなと心配になるほどなの
だが、いざ新梢が伸びだすと
全くの杞憂だったという事が
わかる。ちょっと変わっている。

I finished Kyoho pruning
yesterday and I started again
winegrape growing today.

Semillon is very vigorous and
has very thick branches. But they
weigh light and easy to be cut
in case of both one and two years
old branches. They seem to break
easily when I try to wrap them
around the wire. I worry something
wrong when I prune them but once new
shoots sart growing, it turns to
quite all right. Semillon is a
bit different in this sense.

人形博物館の雛人形は
大変有名になりましたが、
市内笠鉾会館でも全国から
送られて来た人形400体ほど
が飾られてます。
入場無料。藤娘など、通常
ガラスケースに入っている
一体物が並んでいます。

While Doll's Festival dolls at
World Folk Doll Museum became
very famous now, other dolls
are diplayed at Kasaboko-Kaikan
in down town Suzaka. There are
about 400 dolls sent from all over
Japan. Usually each doll is
displayed in glass case at home
like Fujimusume dancing doll
but here they are taken out from
the cases and shown like this.
Free Admission.

とても暖かい日が続いた後で
雪が積もったり、冷たい風が吹いたり
する。
三寒四温を繰り返して大分暖かくなってきた。
もうじき春だ。

それでも夕方になって、冷え込んでくる
ことがあり、そんな時ちょっとした暖が嬉しい。
知り合いの酒屋さんでお茶をいただく
脇のストーブ。

After very warm days, we still have snow
falls and chilly wind. The season is
getting to Spring with alternate cold
and warm weather everyday.　

In cold evening, however, I can get
warm by tea and a kerosine heater like this
at a bottle shop I frequent to.

つい最近あるSNSがあることを
知った。横文字のジャンクメールが
沢山来ていたので、いつもその一つだと
思って何も見ずに消去していたのだが、
リマインダーが来て招待している
名前が知り合いだったので、
その素性を調べてみてから
開けてみたのだ。

そうすると何人も懐かしい名前と
写真がある。いずれもリクエストを
もらっていたようだ。お友達登録をした
ところ早速何人かからメッセージが
届いた。オーストラリアの大学時代
の友人がほとんどだったが、
１０年近く前のことで
懐かしく思い出した。

I have found an SNS just recently.
I may have received messages but as
I thought they were just junk mails
and disregarded them without checking
anything. I received a reminder of an
invitation from the SNS with an old
friend name, I became curious, checked
it and opened the messsage.

After registration, many good
old frineds' name and pictures appeared.
I accepted the requst of becoming friend
then I started receiving messages from
some of them. As most of them are
the friends I met in Australia around
10 years ago, I remembered the memories
of that time.

今日久しぶりに大きな書店で
本をまとめ買いした。全て農業
関係なのだが、とても面白いと
思ったのがナチュラルアートという
会社をやっている鈴木さんという
人が書いた本だ。
「脱サラ農業で年商110億円、
元銀行マンの挑戦」
という、胡散臭い題名。
帯には「ゼロから起業し、
6年で年商110億円を達成した男が明かす
「儲かる農業」の仕組みとは？」
とある。

この類の本には偏見があったので
ほとんど手を出すことがなかったのだが
ゼロから起業して6年、という文字に
ひかれてて（自分と同じだ！）パラパラと
めくってみたのだ。

こうやって当てた、という内容ではなくて、
「日本の農業を元気にしたい」という思いで
農業を始め、「この仕事をやり遂げたい」という
思いが信頼をえてきたところが大きいという。

農業の抱える諸問題とそれに対しての対処方法を
考えて行動してきた所に、私が今まで
ここでネガティブに呟いてきた割り切れなさの
いくつかが具体的に語られてもいて、
こういうことだった
のかと得心の言ったところが多々あった。

漠然と不安を感じているだけではダメで、
問題の本質を理解して、対処方法を考え
実行しなければね。自分の足りないところ
ですね。頭を使え、ズクを出せという
ことでもある！

I bought some books today for the
first time in long time at a big
bookshop. All of them are about
agriculture. What very interesting
was the one written by certain Mr. Suzuki,
founder of Natural Art, tittled '11 billion
yen sales as a new entrant-challenges
by an ex-banker.) The bookbelt tells you
'Starting from scratch and achieved
annual sales of 11 billion yen in six years,
a man tells you the secrets of the lucrative
agriculture.'

I had a prejedice against this kind of
books and have seldom opened a page but
'six years (same as my case)' attarcted
my attention and scanned the pages.

The book dose not tell you how he made a big
hit in agriculture business
but about what he thinks about
the current Japanese agriculture. He started
the business because he though he wanted
cheer up the Japanes agriculture and farmers,
and the credited the trust he earned from the
farmers by his attitude that he would never
give up his business.

He studied the problems of current Japanese
agriculture, tried to find the solutions and
acted on them. These issues are the ones that
I have felt vaguely and twittered or complained
here in my blog. He showed the problems very
clearly and also showed what he has done.

The book tells me that just feeling the problems
anxiously is not enough but trying to make the issues
clear and to trying to find the solutions, then
especially trying to tackle them are important.
I've got to think and waste no time to do what I
think.
