最近の信濃毎日新聞に、有機野菜の
産地直送に取り組む生産者の記事が
出ていた。産直なら1本250円で
売れる有機野菜のダイコンが
通常のルートでは店頭価格
114円、農家の手取り41円
となり、差額は、農協、卸、
スーパーなどの流通コスト
だという。

理不尽ともいえる手取り価格
だと思う。

別の見方をすれば生産者がいかに
多くの中間業種の生活を支えているかという
ことでもある。その他に、農機具、農薬、
資材、種苗の各メーカーに、鉱工業の
廃棄物(硫化物等)まで引き受け、
更に農政関係者と…。

家康時代からの「生かさぬように、
殺さぬように」の扱いに甘んじながら（？）
も農家は偉大だ。更に更に、田園風景や
自然環境の維持の役目も負っているのだ!

I have read an article in the local
paper, Shinano-Mainichi Shinbun, recently
about a farmer who is trying to
expand the direct sales of his organic
vegetables. An organic radish can be sold
through hit route at 250 yen per piece
but the same is sold off at 41 yen per
piece if it was sold through conventional
route namely via JA, wholeseller and
the retailer. The difference is absorbed
by these distribution system.

The farmer's price is unreasonably
cheap, I think.

But from the other point of view, it means
that the agriculture supports so many people
inbetween the producers and the consumers.
Besides there are other makers as agricultural
equipments, chemicals and fertilizers, materials,
seeds and seedlings, and it accepts industrial wastes
(sulfides), and the government people in charge of
agriculture.

The farmers have been remained in 'do not
kill them or do not let them live' situation
since Ieyasu (the first shogun of Edo) Era.
But how great the farmers have been.
In addition, the farmers have kept the
sound rural scenary and helped sustain
the nature and the environment for the people!

今日午後JA須高ぶどう部会の
生産者振興大会。須高地域の
130人ほどのぶどう生産者が
集まった。雨とオリンピック
のせいか去年より参加者は少ない
かも。絶好のタイミングの
雨なのだが…。

シャインマスカット、ナガノパープル、
の生産技術の話を中心に市場動向
等、なかなか盛りだくさん。
市場関係者からは、品質の良い
葡萄を作れ、市場の要求する
タイミングで出荷しろ
と例年の様に檄が飛びます。
そうでないと値段が保てない
と。

そうして例年の様になぜか割り切れない気持ち
が生じる。

There held a local grape growers
technical meeting of JA Sukoh.
About 130 growers gathered but it
the number of attendants seemed
a bit less than that of last
year probably due to the rain and
the Olympic Games TV broadcasting.
It was indeed a good timming rain
though.

Centered at the technical lectures
about Shine Muskat and Nagano Purple,
also explained about the market trend
about the grape. Many issues were discussed.
From the market view points, the representative
of the market in Tsukiji, Tokyo encourage the
growers to make high quality grapes and arrange
the shipment of the produce at the most wanted
time as usual. Otherwise it is difficult
to keep the better sales price.

Listening to these encouragement, I always feel
awkward or a question if these people really
worry about the growers or not.

昨日ブルームーンのことを書いたら
「須坂ハイランド星を観る会」のShinobee さん
がご丁寧に教えて下さいました。
先月（1月）と来月（3月）がブルームーンで、
2月は満月が無い珍しい月だということです。
私は後半の部分をどこかで聞きかじって
いて間違えたようです。Shinobeeさん
ありがとうございます。

訂正ついでにもう一つ。
過日　循環農法の赤城勝人氏の講演会に
参加したと書きましたが、赤峰勝人さん
の間違いでした。

お詫びして訂正いたします。

今日はもう4月かという陽気。
まだ2月なんだけど、これでは
困ってしまいますね。

西の空の色が変わり始めた
夕刻ちかく、東の空はまだ
青い。朝から姿を見せていた
月は天頂近くにきりっとして
いた。

そういえば今月は
満月が2回あるという
ブルームーン？
来月？？？

It was so warm that it felt
like April though it is still
February. Too warm is sometime
troublesome.

Towards sunset time when the sky
in the west started changing its
color, the sky in the east was
still blue without a cloud.
The half moon was hanging
near the zenith.

I wonder if this February
was the month of Blue Moon
whereby full moon apears twice
in one month?　Or next month???

剪定をやりながら、枯れ込みの
多く発生している畑でため息が
でる。今年はそういう傾向ではあるのだが、
それにしても去年もう少しうまく
剪定していればと思う。
後悔先に立たずだな。
これでは、今年の結実が心配だ。
今年で巨峰も7年目、もうちょっと
上達していないとね。

While pruning, I had a sigh at so
many immature or dead branches. It was partly
because of the last year's weather
and the same occurred in many vineyards
around here. However, I should have
pruned a bit better. It's no use crying over
spilt milk. I am worrying about the fruit
set this year. As it is the 7th year of my
kyoho grape growing this year, I should improve
my technique of each operation more.

剪定講習会。樹形は短梢剪定で
H字に仕立てますが、樹形の作り
方の注意点がわかりやすく
説明されました。天気が良くて
皆剪定に忙しいせいか集まりは
イマイチでしたが、なかなか
ためになる講習会でしたね。

There held the Nagano Purple
techinical meeting of pruning.
Besides the pruning, the explanation of
how to train the vines after planting
was very informative.

Many growers were absent from the meeting
probably because of their own pruning of
vines and apples but it was a very good
meeting today.

朝から天気が良くて
どの畑も大分賑やかだ。
葡萄やりんごを初め
剪定作業がピークに
なっている。

聞こえる。これにあと数週間も
すると、畑を耕す大小の
トラクターの音が混じるように
なる。

ドコドコドコドコ、と低く響く
春の音になる。

It was fine all day today
and the vienyards and orchards
were busy with the farmers.
The pruning of the fruit trees
was at its peak time.

You can hear the sound of chain
saw to cut down the unwanted
trees. In a few weeks time,
the sound of tractors will
be heard. Its low vibrating sound
to cultivate the earth is one
of the sound of spring.

暖冬なんだ。やっぱり。
諏訪湖の御神渡りが、昨年に
続き今年もなかったらしい。
平成に入って16回目の出来事。
22年で16回目。昭和は15回氷
がはらなかったという。

畑にはまだところどころ雪
があるが、昼間は働きやすい
気温になっている。朝張った氷
はお昼まで融けないし、
午後3時を過ぎると寒い風が
吹いては来るが。畑での
挨拶も、暖かくてはかどるね、
になっている。

No wonder it's warm winter.
It is reported that Omiwatari
at Suwako Lake did not appear
this year following last year.
It is 16th happenings in Heisei era
which means 16th time out of 22 years
in Heisei. In Showa era, it happened
15 times out of around 65 years.
Omiwatari is the natural phenomena
whereby the ice in the lake becomes
hump due to the swelling of the ice.
The hump is continuous and looks like
the trace that a god walked through
on the icy lake.

We still have remaining snow scattered
in the vineyard but the temperature
is comfortable during the day time.
The morning ice in a bucket does not
melt until noon time and the cold
wind blows after 3pm but the converstaion
in the vineyard and orchard stars with
''You can work smoothly with the warm
weather.''

大分春めいて来たというべきか。
陽が長くなり、太陽が覗いている
時間が長いので、そう感じるのか。
昔は2月はもっと寒かったような
気がするが。

毎日上を向いて棚の上の
巨峰の剪定。大分樹皮の
屑が目に入ったらしく
目が充血している。

耕運した畑は草がないので
泥だらけ。朝のうちは凍って
いて、いいのだが陽が高く
なるにつれて、ぐちゃぐちゃに。
防寒着のすそも泥だらけ。
玄関も泥だらけだ。

The promise of spring is
coming around. As the day time
become longer, I may feel so. I think
it was colder in February long
time ago.

Every day I look up at the
branches of kyoho grapes on the
overhead trellis. I got bark
debris into my eyes and they
become red.

On the ground, the cultivated
patches in the vienyard was dug
and has no weed, it gets muddy.
In the morning, the ground was hard
but it gets softens and muddy with
the warm sunshine. The cuffs get muddy
and the hounse entracne gets muddy,too.

昨日（17日）からまた巨峰の
剪定に入った。あと30アール。
頭や顔、目に樹皮の屑が
落ちてくる。枝を切った
時の木屑も。

何でもこの時季眼科医に
目の不調を訴える人が
増えるらしい。
「剪定やってるでしょう？」
と聞かれるらしい。

I started pruning of kyoho
again since yesterday (Mar. 17).
I have 30a of kyoho vineyards to
go. I got small bark debris on
the head, face and in the eyes.
Saw dust of branch also got into
eyes.

I hear that there are many
patinents at eye doctor's
at this time. The doctor is said
to ask 'You are pruning, right ?'

オリンピックになると思い至るのが
G7だ。日本はG7の一員と数えられて
いるのに何故ほかの国と違って
オリンピックでメダルの数が少ない
のだろうと思う。

今回も、雪の余り降らない英国を除けば
どの国も日本よりメダルを多く獲得している。
最終的にどうなるかまだわからないが、
特に夏のオリンピックでそういう傾向が
あると感じている。

かつて財政が逼迫している上に、
首相がくるくると変わっていて、
G7のお荷物などと言われていた頃の
イタリアでさえ、オリンピックでは
日本よりメダルを多くとっていた
様に思う（確証はないが）。

経済大国などといっても
文化やスポーツ、芸術が
イマイチな国ってどうなるのだろう
と思っていたら。いつの間にか
財政赤字が金メダル級で、
しかも1年に一人以上の首相が
誕生するという国になってしまった。
さらに自殺者が年間3万人以上も出る
状況が10年ほども続いている。

もっとましな国を見て
お家芸の模倣力でもうちょっと
まともな国にすべきではないかな。

Olympic Games always remind me of
G7. For long time I have been wondering
why Japan gained less medals in
Olympic Games than other G7 countries.

This time, except for Great Britains
where it does not snow so often, Japan
has so far got less medals than other
G7 countries. The games have not finished
yet so we do not know the result yet but
I feel there is such a tendency.

Once Italy was called as the burden
of G7 as it had then been suffered from big
financial deficit with changing prime ministers.
But still Italy seemed to gain more medals
at the Olympic Games especially at Summer
Games for which I do not have any concrete
evidence.

At that time, I wonder what would happen
to Japan which was taken as a big economy
without certain visible achievement
in culture, sports or arts.
But it has become a country with gold medal
class finanical deficit with changing
prime ministers at the rate of more than one
per year. What is worse, we have been having
more than 30,000 suicides per year for ten
years now.

As we are very good at copying, we should
look at better nations to make this country
a better one.

2月も中旬となると
色々と行事も立て込んでくる。
今日は剪定した畑の巡回。
人の畑をいろいろ見たり
農協の技術員の話や見方
を聞けるので出るように
している。

今年は天候が悪いせいか
参加者が少ない。

来週からナガノパープルの
講習会やら、生産者大会やら
が入っているし、その他
もろもろの行事が今年のシーズンに
向けて始まるのだ。

それにそろそろ作業の進み具合
が気になる時分でもあり、
オリンピックを気にしながら、
少々の天候でも畑に出るように
なる。

There are many events starting
in mid February. I attended
pruning check meeting today.
I always attend this kind of
meeting because I can visit
and check others' vineyards and
listen to what JA specialists
say about the vines and
vineyards.

We have quiet a small number
of growers today probably due
to the bad weather.

Next week, there are another meeting
of Nagano Purple pruning and general
meeting of grapegrwoers. More are planned
to prepare for the coming growing season.

Some including myself has started
worrying about the delay of the
operations and feeling being hurried
to the vineyard to recover the delay
while missing Winter Olympic Games
now even in bad weather.

毎日毎日鳥をよく見る。

雉にカラスやとび、土鳩に雀くらい
は分かるが、余り鳥には興味がなかったので
知人から借りた「とりぱん」など
読んでみても、イマイチ鳥の
事が判然としない。
まして鳴き声からなど、不可能だ。

何のためにここにいて
何をしているのか。

考えてみると鳥に限らず
余りに物を知らないことに
驚いてしまう。

草や虫、鳥の名前や生態、
米や野菜の作り方等々。
これでは自分の作っているもの
のこともどれほど知っているのやら。
はなはだ心もとなくなる。
葡萄だって、それだけで生きている
訳ではなく、環境の中にあって、
色々な相互作用の中で
生きているのだから、周りのことも
もう少し知らないとね。

Recently I have noticed birds
around me.

Phesants, crows, kites, pigeons,
sparrows, they are the ones I can
distinguish but that's almost all.
I have not been particularly interested
in birds, I still cannot tell one
from another even after I read 'TORIPAN'
comics. What is more, how can I tell
just by their twitter ?

In addition, why they are here or
what they are doing.

They are not only birds but also so many thing
that I don't know. I am surprised to find that
I know so little.

Grasses, insects, firds, its names and
their lives, how to grow rice and veges,
and so on. It implies that I also know
very little about what I am growing.
Grapes do not exist by themselves but they
do exist in its environment and by so many
reciprocal actions. I have to know much
about these sorroundign things.

今日長野で赤木勝人さんの
講演会があったので行ってきた。
循環農法という考え方で
無農薬、無化学肥料で野菜を
12ヘクタールも栽培している
という。

入場料1,000円（当日券1,500円）で
あったが、先月の入場無料の、
グリーンツーリズム講演会・シンポジウム
より聴衆の数は多かったように思う。

参加者は農業関係よりは、自然派有機派の
消費者プラス、アトピー等のアレルギーで
悩んでいます系の人が多かったかな。

赤城さんの作った野菜と玄米、それに
塩（自然塩）による食事療法で
アトピーが治ったという実績が多数
あるようなのだ。

お話は興味深く、また共感する部分が
多かった。青森の木村さんとも通じる
ものを感じた。いづれも土の中のことを
大変真剣に考えている。

私も出来ればそうしたいと思っているのだが、
まだまだ確信が持てないのだ。ただ、大分
元気づけれられた。九州でも土に注目して
葡萄を栽培し優秀なワインを造っている
ワイナリーが出ているし。

今年も殺虫剤は使わず、また殺菌剤も
何とか工夫してできるだけ使わないように
考えていこう。

I attended a lecture by Katsuto Akagi
in Nagano city. He calls it circulatory
agriculture using no chemical spray
or sythesized fertilizers and grow vegetables in his
12ha farm.

The adimission fee was 1000yen (advance sale)
or 1500yen but the number of audiences seemed
more than that of the Green Tourism lecture and
symposium of which admission was free.

The people there seemed more natural or
organic food consumers or those suffering from
alergic diseases than the farmers.
That is because the number of examples whereby
the patinets recovered from their diseases
by eathing his produces and followed his
dietary instructions. He recommends to eat
sound vegetables and brwon rice with
natural salt.

The lecture was interesting and ispiring
which synchronized with my thoughts. And
I felt there were many common ideas with
Mr. Kimura's thoughts on his miracle apple
growing. Both take into considerations
what is happening in the ground very
seriously.

I have been thinking it a good idea
if I was able to grow grapes without
chemicals input in the vineyards but
I was not fully convinced and do not
know what to do yet. However, what
Mr. Akagi talked today and what I read
in Mr. Kimura's writing are really
encouraging. I know there are people
in Kyushu to take care of the soil
and grow winegrapes leading to high
quality wines.

I will try not to use pesticides in
my vineyards this year again and
also try not to use sterlirizers
as much as possible.

午前中は日差しを受けて
熱いくらいの天気。

剪定をしていると、
どこにいたのか蜘蛛が
沢山でてくる。こんな
真冬にも活動しているのか。
それとも、寝ぐらの樹を
ゆすられてロゼッタ状態
で眠っていたのに
目覚めてしまったのか。

春先に殺虫剤をまくと
こういう蜘蛛も全部死んで
しまうのか。樹を食い荒らされて
いるのを見ると撒きたい気分に
もなるのだが。

午後は一転雲が空を覆って
雪がちらつく。

夕刻空が騒がしくなってくる。
烏の鳴き声に加えて、
少し離れた電線に
何百羽の鳥が留まっている。
これだけの鳥は一体
どこで何を食べて
過ごしているのか。

It was rather warm with sunshine
on the shoulder this morning.

While pruning, I found many spiders
coming from the vines on their threads.
I wonder if they were active in such
winter cold, or if I waked them up
from their rosetta sleep
by moving their nest vines.

If I sprayed in spring, it would kill them
all besides the pests. I feel like spraying
when I find the vines with holes by bores.

In the afternoon, the weather changed suddenly
and the sky became cloudy with falling
snow flakes.

Towards the sunset, the sky became noisy
with crows and hundreds of birds
on the electric lines nearby.
I wondered where and what these birds
had eaten in winter.

昨日は午後から雨。
夕方から雪になって、
今朝は20センチほどの積雪。
平日な事もあり、また雨が降れば
アッと言う間に溶けてしまうと
思ったのか、雪かきの音も
あまり聞こえません。

お昼前後の陽のせいで
やはりかなり溶けました。

剪定は雨がちな天気のため
余りはかどらず…。

そんな畑で見つけた
雪の上の足跡二人分？
耕作放棄で林になって
しまったお隣の畑跡は人里での
絶好の狩場のようです。

It started raining yesterday
afternoon which turned into snow
in the evening. This morning we
had around 20cm of snowfall.

As it was a week day today and
because of recent rainy weather,
I did not hear the sound of
shoveling so much today.

As expected, much of the snow melted
away due to the warm sunshine around
noon time.

Because of the rain these days,
I cannot proceed pruning so smoothly
which would become troublesome sooner.

On the snow in the vineyard, I found
foot prints of two hunters? The neighboring
abandand farm yard which is now woods may
be a good hunting spot around here.

剪定の話が続いたので
ちょっと特別なケースを。

剪定をまるっきりしないと
どうなるか。際限なく新梢が
伸びてゆくのか。という訳では
なくて、もじゃもじゃという
感じになるだけです。

(ミニマルプルーニングの畑。　ヘッジングの前。）

剪定しない→翌年の芽数が
多い→新梢が沢山出る→
樹勢が強くならない→
新梢は短く細くなり櫛間も
短くなる→葡萄の粒も実も
小さくなる。

まるっきりしないというのは
ないですが、最小限しかやらない
というのはあります。やるのは
ヘッジングと言って、畝間に
機械が入る程度に刈上げる
くらいです。

ミニマル・プルーニング（最小剪定）
というのですが、以外な事に品質の
高い葡萄が取れます。難点は、
もじゃもじゃとなった樹冠の内部
にスプレーがかからないので
防除が難しいという点です。

Here is a case of special pruning.

What do you think if a vine did not
receive pruning ? Do you think new shoots
grow endlessly ? No, it is not like that.
The canopy becomes shaggy. That's all.

No prning →too many buds left
for next year →too many new shoots→
devigorated shoots→small and thin
shoots plus short internode →
small berry and bunch.

There is no no pruning but
little pruning called minimal
pruning. Only mechanical hedging
is applied for smooth path of
vehicles.

To our surprise, minimal pruning
can produce high quality grapes.
However, the spraying inside the
shaggy canopy is very difficult.

シラーズはスコットヘンリーに、
他はスマートダイソンを目途に
剪定してゆく。なかなか15芽/m
を確保できない。

今年から棚でもワイン用葡萄
を仕立てる。少しまとまった
面積が欲しいのだが…。

In drizzling rain which stops
frequently, I continued to prun.
The sky was covered with hazy clouds.

I prune shiraz to aim Scott Henry
and others to Smart Dyson. I try
to leave 15buds/m/row but it is
not always easy for vigorous vines.

I will grow winegrapes on the overhead
trellis this year but so far I don't
have enough size for that purpose yet.

畑で知り合いと話していたら
今年から種無し巨峰をつくる
と言っていた。

(これはワイン葡萄）

乗り遅れた種無しへの流れが
加速している。種有の方が
おいしいという事はわかって
いても、市場＝消費者が求める
ものは種無しなのだ。
また、種有の場合の房切り
という忙しい作業が
終わった時期に摘粒という
作業がはいるので、両方やると
作業の時季をずらせるという
メリットもある。

私はまだ巨峰の種無しには
転換してないが、一部種無しに
するのはいいかもしれない。

When I talked to a grapegrower
in his vineyard, I find him
to start growing seedless kyoho
grape this year.

The trend of seedles kyoho has
been accelerated these days.
Even though the seeded kyoho
taste better, market(consumers)
demands seedles grapes. For the
growers, the berry thinning for
seedless kyoho comes after
the bunch cutting operation
which is crucial for seeded kyoho
making. So the two operations
are separated in terms of time
which is a great adavantage to
grow both kyoho.

It may be a good idea to make
both seedless and seeded kyoho
as seedless kyoho can fetch
higher price than seeded one.

朝方少々冷え込んだのと、
あまりの快晴に誘われて山へ。

望月さんのツアーについて
大谷林道下りに挑戦。
かなり気温が上がって雪が
重くコントロールが利かない
（その程度の実力です）。
転倒多数、顔面制動1回。
雪が深く起き上がるのに
苦労する。

エクストリームなボーダーが
直線的に下った跡がある。
プロですね。

途中見かけた野生生物
はウサギとカモシカの
兄弟（？）。

およそ2時間をかけて仁礼
まで下る。途中宇原川沿いの
長く続く気持ちの良いはずの
下りにも日頃の運動不足を
悔やむ。

The morning cold and the clear sky
invited me to the mountain, Minenohara
Kogen.

I followed Mr. Mochiduki's petit tour
and tried the Oya Rindo route down to
Nirei. Because of high temperature
during daytime, the snow got wet and
became heavy which made it difficult
for me to control the ski. (I am not
good at skiing so much.) I fell down
many times and even I was forced to
use my face to make a stop. Once falling
down, I had hard time to get up again.

I found the snowboard's trail almost
straight down the hill, extreme boarders.
They must be professionals.

I saw wild life such as wild rabbit and
a pair of serows, perhaps brothers?

It took us about two hours to finish
the tour. It was a fun but I was not able
to enjoy the views along the Ubara River
which was long enough and I regretted
my lack of exercise.

今朝(2/7)までかなりの雪が
降ったので,
午前中は雪かき。
田舎といっても、そうそう
雪を捨てられる場所が
あるわけが無いので、30～40センチも
積もってしまうと、軽トラに雪を
摘んで畑に捨てに行くことになる。

（こんな感じで数往復）

10時を回って陽も出てきて、気温も
かなり上がったら、雪がどんどん溶け、
降ったまま手付かずの場所の積雪は
朝方の30センチから10センチ程度に
低くなっていた。明日は雨も降るようで、
アッと言う間にとけてしまいそうですね。

We had quite a few snowfall by
this morning and I had to shovel
it from around my apartment.

As there is no vacant place
eleswhere even in our country town,
I have to carry it away wiht my ute.

After 10am, the sun started shining
and the temperature went up. So the snow
melted awasy so quickly. The snowfall was
around 30cm depth this morning but it
reduced to almost 10cm in the afternoon.
The weather forecast said it would rain
tomorrow and the snow will disappear
very quickly then.

昨夕から降り始めた雪が
ずっと降り続いている。
今朝までに20センチほど、そして
今日も終日降っていた。
今夜も明日も雪の予報。

須坂あたりは、30～40センチも
降れば大雪だが、もっと北の
飯山市などは大変な
ことになっているらしい。
山に行ったスキーの人たちの
ことも気にかかる。

The snow continues to fall.
It started yesterday evening
and kept falling all night
and day through now.
It seems to snow again tonight
and tomorrow according to the
weather forecast.

We call it heavy snow if we
had snow depth of 30-40cm
here but they have much much
heavier snow falls in Iiyama city
stiuated in far northern Shinshu.
I hope the people went to the mountains
for skiing safely avoid adventure
and are all right.

あるブレンドを予定したワインが
あったのだが、今日その一方の
ワインの状態が変化して来たというので
ワイナリーに行ってテイスティング。

状態が安定していないので、
対応を相談して、処理後の変化を見守る
ことにした。こういう事は少量の場合に
起こりやすい。大量のワインを
タンク一杯に入れたり、樽一杯に
はいるワインならリスクは低いのだが、
少量の場合は醗酵もリスク管理も
難しいのだ。

There is a wine which I expect
to use for blending. I got a call
today about the wine. The winery
said the quality got changed.
I hurried to the winery and check
the wine.

Unfortunately, the situation was
nstable and we decided to
set aside the wine with certain treatment.
We will wait for better change.
Such case can happen especially
in case of small size winemaking.
In case of big volume in tank
or barreled wines, such risk is
low. It is not easy to
keep the quality of the wine
for long time.

If I made wines at my own facility,
I would be able to pay more attention.
Such a dillenma.

もう全国的に知られる様に
なったが、須坂市人形博物館の
雛人形飾り。1000体30段という
ふれこみだが、隣接する建物園
と版画美術館にも飾ってあって
全部で約8000体あるそうだ。また、
ひな壇は最大31段。
ちょっと見ものです。

As it has been recognized throughout Japan
by now, the display of Hina Girl's Festival
dolls has started at World Folk Dolls Museum
in Suzaka. It is said that there are 1000 dolls
on the thirty story steps in the museum.
However, around 8000 dolls are displayed
there including neighboring Old House Park
and Woodprint Museum. The talles step has
thirty one stories. It is really worth while
looking.

昨日夕方から急に気温が下がり、
降り始めた細かい雪が
その後強くなり今朝には
15センチほど積もって
一面の雪景色になった。

ただ朝から天気は好く
午後には大分溶けてしまった。
でも、また今夜から降るようで
明日も銀世界だろう。

道路の雪は硬く圧雪され、昼間の
好天で溶けた雪がその上を
シャーベット状に覆う。
随分溶けたので油断していると
日陰の固い雪で車の制御が
難しくなる。

お昼頃そんな道を走っていたら
前を行くスポーツカーがお尻を
45度くらい振られて対向車線に
かなりはみ出した。幸いにも
対向車はなく、またその車も
一回転とはならずに走行を続けたが
カーブではドリフトでもしているかの
様に滑っていた。

雪道や凍結した道路での
運転はスピードを落として
安全第一です。

The temperature went down rapidly
last evening and it started snowing.
It was very fine powder snow. Then
I found the snowfall of 15cm depth
this morning.

It was cold this morning but due
to the fine weather, most of the
snow melted in the afternoon.
Another snow is forecasted and I
expect the town will be covered
with snow everywhere.

The snow on the road was compressed
covered with sherbet like melting snow on it.
It looks as if it were just the melting
snow, but be careful, you can lose the
control of you car in the shadow where
the compressed hard snow still remain.

When I was driving on such a road,
a sport car in front of me slipped
and the tail moved out in the opposite
lane. The car did not turn around but
it showed almost 45 degrees turn.
Luckily there was no car in the opposite
lane. The care moved on and made very sharp
turn like a drifting due to the snow again.

Attention to the snow or frozen road. When you
have to drive, drive slowly to avoid accident!

今日(2月1日）さるワイナリーで2009ヴィンテージの
ワインの試飲を幾つかさせて頂いた。
MLFはこれからというものもありましたが、
良いできのワインが多かったですね。
同じ品種でも、畑の場所や収穫時期、
樽によって味わいが大分異なり、
その違いに改めてびっくり。
また、試飲のタイミングでも
違ってくる。

いずれにせよ、2009ヴィンテージは
期待が大ですね。

I had an opportunity to taste
several wines of 2009. Some are waiting for
MLF to occur and one cannot judge the
quality yet but it seems to me that
many of 2009 vintage wines are good.

For the same variety, the wines taste
different dependent on the vineyard location,
harvest time, barrel, etc. Even though I knew
that, the difference was not small to my
surprise. The same wine taste different on the
timing of the tasting, too.

Any how, we can expect great wines from
vintage 2009.
